Quick Overview

The mixed-use building designed by Frank Gehry on Pariser Platz in Berlin has a formal orthogonal façade as required by its location next to the Brandenburg Gate. But inside, it’s classic Gehry with lots of warm wood and high tech steel and glass in a surprise atrium that separates the two halves of the building (one for the headquarters of DZ Bank, the other for apartments). Between the crowning glass roof and a skylit performance center below is an organic horse-head shaped conference room, wood on the interior and clad in stainless steel. The conference room was solidly booked purely on the basis of the model long before the building was ever constructed.
